Bear dies after being hit by car near LA

With an increasing California bear population and high activity as the animals prepare for hibernation, it's more likely than ever that you'll need some tips for staying safe in the Bear Flag Republic and protect our beautiful bruins at the same time.

This week alone there have been more than a half dozen bear encounters reported in the news -- bear locks itself in an SUV in Truckee, bear strolls near the Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo campus, bear trappers trying to remove troublesome bears near Incline Village in Tahoe get death threats.
